Kitchen Relight

Here is the first in a few relight demonstrations. Using Thea render ( which I’m sure you have worked out I’m a big fan and supporter of ;) ). I’ve used a number of lights, an Image based light ( IBL ) , Sun/sky and 10 total emitters. Using relight takes a little longer to render but the versatility you get after the render is complete speaks for itself. It’s a huge timesaver when it comes to tweaking lighting colors, intensity and mixing as opposed to re-rendering. I though I would produce a relight video using the relight keyframing tools and the program -Avidemux ( very easy and powerful for convering image sequences to video )

Thea kitchen update

A few more updates to the kitchen. The result is starting to look pleasing with the render time only sitting at about 1 hour at the moment for a 3000×2500 image ( here downsized )

Thea Kitchen render

I’m updating my Kitchen renderings that I did with Mental ray in max a while back. Going over all the materials and recreating them for Thea. It should be a helpful process, putting together a lot of useful materials and hopefully churning out some good looking renders in the process. These are work in progress [...]

Crysis 2 Trailer – The wall

Over the last 3 months I’ve been working as a lead artist/character artist on the new crysis 2 trailer. It’s finally been released to a warm reception. Featuring an eerie soundtrack and plenty of alien action. While not everything on the project went as smoothly as hoped, the final result was ultimately successful. Enjoy the video [...]

Thea renderer

Over the last couple of week i’ve been testing and working with the fantastic ‘Thea’ renderer. It’s a biased/unbiased renderer that has the best bits of renderers such as Maxwell and mental ray accuracy. It’s easy to use and has a relatively small learning curve. It’s power however is in the hands of the user, [...]
